Learning Assistance Program

The Learning Assistance Program supports many children throughout the year from years K-6.  Support can take many forms.

  • one to one basis

  • small group work

  • cross age peer tutor program

  • parent helper programs

  • literacy/numeracy workshops.

Parents are a valued and integral part of the Learning Assistance Program. We have many parent helpers who work with children on a regular basis. Parents are trained as tutors in reading programs that run throughout the year across the school. They are given the opportunity to attend literacy and maths workshops where parents can gather knowledge of the learning process and how to effectively assist their child at home. We value and welcome parent’s positive contribution in our school.

The Learning Assistance Program at Dunoon Public School has a whole school focus, where teachers work together to plan for the individual needs of each child, supporting children in many and varied ways.
